Retail Investors Poised to Dominate Private Market Fundraising by 2025
State Street's annual private markets survey reveals a seismic shift in capital flows, with retail investors projected to become the primary source of private market fundraising within two years. The data shows 56% of institutional respondents expect semi-liquid vehicles to capture at least half of private market allocations—a dramatic increase from 14% adoption rates observed last year.
"2025 could mark the watershed moment for retail participation," said Donna Milrod, State Street's digital assets chief. The firm's EMEA private markets head Sven Eggers confirmed these findings align with accelerating distribution through wealth channels across Western markets.
